February 16, 2009

Kalipunan ng mga Katutubong Mamamayan ng Pilipinas together with indigenous peoples rights advocates, TABAK, TAKDER-Cordillera Peoples Alliance and KATRIBU will hold an activity TEFAG on February 27, 2009, 6-9pm at Bantayog ng mga Bayani Grounds , Quezon Avenue near EDSA, Quezon City.

"TEFAG", is a collaborative effort initiated by indigenous peoples' organization and urban based support groups. The activity aims to raise public awareness on the plight of ethno-linguistic groups and seeks support from Manila-based urban populace.

It is a three-fold solidarity night that would launch two of the finest creations that articulates the present plight of the Indigenous Peoples of Cordillera and reechoes our campaign call to surface James Balao.

Ti Daga ket Biag (Our Land, Our Life), is a book composed of best selections from 3 multi-sectoral land congresses that was organized by Cordillera Peoples Alliance (CPA) between the year 1984 to 2008.

Chuwassi, on the other hand is the 6th album produced and released by Salidummay on its 21st anniversary. The album has 12 original compositions which each highlight various angles of the Cordillera peoples' movement to assert their identity, and their rights to their land and resources, and the impact on the conservation of the mountain ecosystem.

Mabtad, is a Kankanaey and Bontok term referring to the practice of Igorots for community mobilization and cooperation in times of emergency. It is a campaign call and at the same time, a broad formation that calls for urgent search and immediate release of James Moy Balao from his captors.

We would like to invite you/your organization to attend the aforementioned activity. Your presence will and solidarity is a great help in this endeavors.
