Congratulations and Solidarity for the 38th Cordillera Day!

We, the Hiroshima Prefectural Federation of the Buraku Liberation League, send our congratulations on the 38th Cordillera Day and our heartfelt greetings of solidarity to all the Cordillerans participating in the conference.

We hear that the Duterte government has continued its anti-people policies and has trampled on Philippine democracy. Moreover, we hear that the military and police are now targeting the Cordillera Peoples Alliance, threatening and harassing Windel, Bestang, other leaders. We think that this suppression of the struggle for the rights of indigenous peoples by the CPA and its leaders is a gross violation of human rights and an affront and obstruction to the efforts of indigenous peoples to obtain their human rights. We cannot tolerate such repression and are deeply worried that the CPA's struggle in obtaining indigenous human rights has been obstructed.

We expect that in the upcoming presidential elections, the Filipino people will elect a president who will restore true democracy to the Philippines and who will value the human rights of the indigenous people, and that a pro-people government will be established.

In Japan, on the one hand, the government continues to pursue anti-people policies, fomenting a crisis of war and tolerating the hate speech of right-wing people, and on the other hand, it abolishes the only affirmative action for Buraku people and allows discrimination against us to go unchecked. We, the Buraku Liberation League, oppose these policies and fight for true peace and the happiness of the people, especially for policies that protect the human rights of the Buraku people and other minorities in Japan.

We are convinced that our struggle in Japan is a common struggle of the oppressed of human rights with your struggle in the Philippines and that the hearts of the Buraku people are deeply connected to the hearts of the people of the Cordillera.

Without our liberation, there will be no liberation for you, and without your liberation, there will be no liberation for us. With these words in our mind once again, we pledge to fight together for the acquisition of human rights and liberation of minority people in Japan and the Philippines, and we would like to convey this passionate aspiration to all of you. Let's do our best together.

Again, congratulations on the success of the 38th Cordillera Day, and best wishes for the CPA's continued progress in the struggle.

Long Live International Solidarity
