SOLIDARITY MESSAGE FROM IWGIA to the 32nd Cordillera Day

April 22, 2016

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs extends our warmest solidarity to all the participants of the Cordillera Day celebrations. It is with regret that we cannot be there to celebrate with you, but we are with you in spirit.

IWGIA is proud of its long time partnership with the indigenous Peoples of the Cordillera region. We admire the strength, resilience, perseverance and unity that you have shown over the years and hope that you will maintain this firm determination and strength in the ongoing struggle. The struggle of your people for self-determination has been and continue to be of great inspiration to other indigenous peoples all over the world – inspiring us all to stand stronger united in the vindication of indigenous peoples rights and in the struggle against vigorous powers and exploiters of indigenous peoples. IWGIA is proud to be accompanying and supporting you in the struggle that is far from over, despite many victories along the way.

May your land be protected, your rights respected, and your honor and dignity retained.

In Solidarity,
IWGIA
