CPA-Abra lauds LGU Dolores for supporting Peace Talks

September 2, 2016

The Kakailian Salakniban Tay Amin a Nagtaudan – Cordillera People’s Alliance Abra (KASTAN CPA-Abra) and Abra Human Rights Movement (AHRM) congratulate the Local Government Unit of Dolores, Abra for passing a municipal resolution supporting the peace talks between the National Democratic Front of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GPH).

“We are very happy that the Sangguniang Bayan of Dolores passed the resolution supporting the peace negotiations. We need all the support we can get to help the people understand the importance of the negotiations. We would like to thank the leadership of Mayor Robert Victor Seares, Jr. Vice Mayor Emelito Cortez and the Sangguniang Bayan of Dolores for supporting our campaign for a just and lasting peace,” said Ronald Gustilo, KASTAN CPA-Abra Public Information officer.

In its Municipal Resolution No. 45 of 2016 sponsored by SB Member Hon. Fredelito B. Quinto, the municipal government expressed its support and upholds the thrust of the Duterte government to achieve a just and lasting peace, progress and national reconciliation by resolving one of the longest armed conflicts in the Asia.

“The campaign for a just and lasting peace is a long road full of challenges. However, having local government units like the Municipality of Dolores supporting the cause, we believe that there is a bright future ahead. We hope that other local government units and the provincial government of Abra will follow and pass a similar resolution. But aside from passing resolutions, we hope that the concerned government units uphold human rights, promote and employ economic and social reforms that will benefit the people,” ended Gustilo.
