Call for Donations for Typhoon Egay affected communities in the Cordillera Region, Philippines | Serve the People Brigade- Cordillera

August 3, 2023

Dear friends, allies, and partners,

Serve the People Brigade- Cordillera is humbly asking for your support to the Typhoon Egay affected communities in the Cordillera Region, Philippines. The typhoon lasted for approximately 3 days, from July 25 to 27, 2023, and wreaked havoc in the 6 provinces of the region. At present, 4 provinces are declared under state of calamity, namely Abra, Mt. Province, Apayao, and Benguet. According to the recent data provided by the region’s Office of Civil Defense, the devastation has affected 110, 681 families or 389, 123 individuals. Reports from local peoples’ organizations are still coming in as communications and electricity are yet to be fully restored across the region. Initial data from the ground indicate major damages to shelter, livelihood, and infrastructure.

Relief operations and emergency responses are currently being conducted by various civil society organizations and government agencies, but it will take time to rehabilitate the impacted communities and livelihoods more so that the Southwest monsoon continues to bring heavy rains and strong winds. We are thus humbly calling on all families, friends, allies and concerned citizens in the Philippines and abroad for support in this time of emergency and disaster. We will be conducting our own relief missions and rehabilitation support. Any kind of help extended will go a long way.

More updates and information on the current situation of communities affected by the typhoon will be posted.
