Overview of CPA's International Work
Since its formation, CPA has committed itself to establishing friendly and principled relations with overseas indigenous peoples’ organizations, advocate groups, and progressive individuals and institutions.
In line with its international lobby and advocacy work, actively participates in the annual sessions of the United Nations Permanent Forum on indigenous issues since the forum was established in 2001.
On November 5-8, 2010, the Cordillera Peoples Alliance organized the International Conference on Indigenous Peoples' Rights, Alternatives and Solutions to the Climate Crisis which resulted in the formation of the international Indigenous Peoples' Movement for Self Determination and Liberation (IPMSDL). The IPMSDL is a network of indigenous peoples' organizations and individuals, and advocates from different parts of the globe. It aims to fight for the recognition and respect of all our inherent rights as indigenous peoples to land, life, self-determination, liberation and social justice. It stands for the right of indigenous peoples to govern ourselves and for liberation from imperialism, state oppression and human rights violations. Click here for full text
